    we have had a request from an apprentice who is on a break-in-learning for maternity leave with another provider. She would like to enrol on our level 1 maths FS course, she is not enrolled on any maths training with her other provider (they have confirmed this) and they have told her she can enrol with us (using AEB funding) provided she completes it before she returns to her apprenticeship following her break-in-learning.

    I would have thought that the learner is only on a temporary withdrawal from her apprenticeship in the ILR, and therefore should wait until she returns from her break to restart her apprenticeship and do the FS with her apprenticeship provider.

    Any advice would be welcome

    From the AEB rules:
    78. We will not fund
    78.5. training through ESFA funded AEB, where a learner is undertaking or planning to undertake an apprenticeship and where that training will;
    78.5.1 replicate vocational and other learning aims covered by the apprenticeship standard or framework, including English and maths

    The learner may be on a planned break but they are still undertaking an Apprenticeship so it is no

    Also (rhetorical), if she needs FS1 Maths, why the heck isn’t it part of her App already???
