I’m new on here and may be being very stupid but I thought that FIS Live was going to be available from today – and even have someone coming in to assist me with installing it tomorrow after various failed attempts with Beta versions – but I can’t find any updates about it at all?
ThanksNovember 21, 2013 at 12:30 pm #3458
They ‘expected’ to release it today – rumour was ‘sometime after noon’November 21, 2013 at 1:15 pm #3460
For FIS Live you have to request access at the HUB:
https://hub.imservices.org.uk/Pages/default.aspxNovember 21, 2013 at 2:02 pm #3467
Great! I had to log a call this morning because my account has been deactivated. I can’t access the hub.
Given the data service posted this this morning: “FIS Beta is available to support the R04 collection and we have recently updated the learning aim data.”, I thought that meant FIS Live wasn’t coming.November 21, 2013 at 2:25 pm #3470
The download is just the FIS prerequisites that’s already available, when you run it the custom install option still has “Clean Beta Install” as an option.November 21, 2013 at 2:30 pm #3471
Has anybody had an email about the FIS live yet? I put my details on the site to request access to FIS, it said I’d receive an email about what to do next but nothing has come through yet…
I’ve also ran the updates to FIS Beta, the missing funding has returned yet I still have over 500 LARS errors, was hoping these would go today! 🙁

Still no email here…………November 21, 2013 at 2:33 pm #3473
Just been told by the data service that FIS live won’t be out today, its not ready, it will be available on the ‘Hub’ and also on the software download page, they have updated the known issues today. They suggested I use FIS beta which I am reluctant to do as my PC that it was installed on burnt out it’s hard drive. happy daysNovember 21, 2013 at 2:57 pm #3475
I got a reply straight away, with a download link, but it was just the same prerequisites exe as from the data service.November 21, 2013 at 3:05 pm #3476
I have just rung the Service Desk and also been told that Version 24 (which they believe is the Live Version) will not be out today, although there should be a new version of LARS out to work with FIS Beta v23 which should resolve some issues.November 21, 2013 at 3:08 pm #3477
I say again For FIS Live you have to request access at the HUB:
Yes this is still 188.8.131.52 but you can select the provider now and I have tested that it produces the same output as FIS Beta.November 21, 2013 at 3:10 pm #3479
I have requested access to the FIS Live today and been sent an acknowledgement email . However I find that it comes with Terms & Conditions that are the same as for FIS Beta, which I had assumed are only applicable to the Beta version.
These Terms & Conditions are not acceptable and so I am unable to progress. I have written to the Service Desk to request help with this.
Specifically the proposed Terms & Conditions deny all liability for errors and omissions or access and any financial consequences thereof. So if FIS Live prevents accurate data submission due to deficiencies (as has been the case with FIS Beta) and this in turn prevents the correct payment of funds by the Authorities then that is an unacceptable situation. I do not believe that restrictions were imposed on LIS and its use and clearly they are inappropriate for such a fundamentally required system in 2013-14.November 21, 2013 at 3:13 pm #3480
Thanks for the feedback so far everyone – I’m glad it’s not just me!
I went to the link provided, registered and got an email with a link to what appeared to be a download but left it at that – there doesn’t seem to be any information about how to use the thing anyway although I was assured by someone at the Data Service last week that it would go live today! I honestly don’t know what to do as we don’t have a ‘non critical’ pc for my I.T. guy to install the Beta on tomorrow anyway and, as a lead provider with several subcontractors, it is becoming more and more urgent that we are able to produce proper funding reports…November 21, 2013 at 3:19 pm #3482
This may be the explanation?
New FIS Beta Release Guide today at http://www.thedataservice.org.uk/NR/rdonlyres/372CA40C-83AE-495E-A2EC-C1BC27AC4972/0/FISReleaseGuideBetaReleasev10_21November2013.pdf
Users who wish to access the live version of FIS (which is the same as the current Beta release) can request access via this link
Smoke and mirrors comes to mindNovember 21, 2013 at 3:47 pm #3485
I tried to do a clean beta install with the download (it’s actually 1 byte smaller than the one from the data service.)
It’s bombed out with the following error message
“You cannot start application Funding Information System from this location because it is already installed from a different location.”
The error log shows a bit more detail
You cannot start application Funding Information System from location https://dsdownload.des.imservices.org.uk/FisInstall/FundingInformationSystem.application it is already installed from location http://184.108.40.206/DesktopServiceBetaVdir/FundingInformationSystem.application. You can start it from location http://220.127.116.11/DesktopServiceBetaVdir/FundingInformationSystem.application or you can uninstall it and reinstall it from location https://dsdownload.des.imservices.org.uk/FisInstall/FundingInformationSystem.application. If you reinstall the application, be aware that you might lose any customizations that you made to the application.November 21, 2013 at 3:56 pm #3489
I GIVE UP!!!November 21, 2013 at 3:56 pm #3491
I’ve deleted the old one and am installing the new, but I suspect when the live version is released it’ll need to be a clean install anyway.November 21, 2013 at 4:00 pm #3492
I removed the beta version, and did a clean install of the live version. Successfully selected our provider details, then got the FIS error 0014. I have tried removing and re-installing a couple of times but keep getting the same error.
Now removed the live version, and reinstalling the last beta, without the error.
One step forward,…..November 22, 2013 at 8:52 am #3512
