Under Standards, I am aware that so long as the component aims are achieved, and student sits the EPA and fails, we record the programme aim as completed – not achieved. This results in the 20% completion funding being released.
In relation to Frameworks,if a student fails say one of the Functional Skills elements, should we would record the component aim as completed – did not achieve, and under the programme aim, also record completed – did not achieve, or should the programme aim be closed as withdrawal?
We’ve always closed them as a withdrawal. You should be allowing the learner the chance to retry the failed FS aim until they pass. If they’ve turned that chance down and want to leave the apprenticeship without gaining a mandatory component, then they’ve withdrawn from the programme and haven’t completed it.
