    We have had an apprenticeship application for a Level 4 apprenticeship.
    This learner already has a Level 2 FS in English and is starting their Level 2 Maths in Sept.

    They are looking to start the apprenticeship in June however the FS they are starting in Sept isn’t through us.

    Do we have to wait for them to complete the Level 2 Maths somewhere else before we accept them?

    There is this rule;

    P63 To use funds in the employer’s apprenticeship service account or government employer co-investment, the individual must:

    P63.3 Not be undertaking another apprenticeship or be in receipt of any other DfE funding during their apprenticeship programme; this includes another apprenticeship or any other DfE funded FE/HE programme.

    If this was another qualification, you might never know if a student was receiving funding elsewhere. Since it’s maths, and a requirement of the apprenticeship, I’d be nervous about doing this. If you explain that they’d have to wait, could they be persuaded to do the maths with you instead?
