Hi everyone! We have a learner who was put on a break in learning from 1st April 2020 (as per the Apprenticeship Covid-19 advice for anyone who did learning in March) who we have now found out has left. Am I right in thinking that the correct way to report this in the ILR would be to now change the break to a close and correct the last day in learning to the date to the actual day this occurred?

    TIA, Emma

Short answer is yes, although it means you’ll lose the March payment. Nothing in the guidance to suggest you can have it though (unlike for BILs where it’s explicit).

Thanks Steveh – I figured that would be the case. There’s nothing explicit in the guidance they’ve released but it does say the ESFA will recover payments where training did not take place and the apprentice subsequently leaves, so I assume this is what they’re after despite them not actually saying it!
