In the OTJ guide under ‘WHAT CAN BE INCLUDED IN OFF-THE-JOB TRAINING’
18. “If it is unclear whether an activity is off-the-job training is there an easy way to check?”
Yes, there are four key tests:
Is the person signed up to the apprenticeship programme?
Is the activity directly relevant to the apprenticeship?
Is the activity teaching new knowledge, skills and behaviours?
Is the learning taking place in the apprentice’s normal working hours?
The guide does not specifically cover guidance on revision excepting for revision classes but where the apprentice is continuing to learn through revision and the above criteria are met then I see no reason why it would not be included.
Thanks very much for your guidance. So although revision is recapping previously delivered course content it can be classed as new knowledge, skills and behaviours because it is embedding knowledge? As long as the revision happens during working hours and not as homework?
