    Hi all

Does anyone know if the funding cap for learners funded through the Adult Skills Budget is £4,400 (unweighted) per learner, as stated in this document:
    http://readingroom.skillsfundingagency.bis.gov.uk/sfa/new_streamlined_funding_system_for_adult_skills_feb2012.pdf

    and confirmed here:
    http://skillsfundingagency.bis.gov.uk/providers/FundingSimplification/FAQs/

    To quote the fuding document:

“An annual funding cap of £4,400 (applied to the unweighted rate) per learner”… Presumably this means that if a learner was studying one qual, in the Diploma (73-132) category, weighting 1.3 (i.e. a weighted price tag of £5,421) they would NOT be capped as the unweighted value of a Diploma (73-132) is £4,170.

Is there an funding cap for Apprenticeships?

According to 2013_14_Simplified_Funding_Rates_20130218.xls published by the SFA, all of the Apprenticeship Rates are “Weighted Funding Rate” and so I would have to assume that the Cap that you are talking about does not apply (since it is said to be on the unweighted rate).

HOWEVER I would very much appreciate some authoritative comment on this, please, as this concept of capping would be terminal if it were applied as suggested.

    Many thanks,
    Caspar

Paragraph 70 of the ‘New Streamlined Funding Sysrem for Adult Skills’ excepts Apprenticeships from the funding cap.
