Hi, I’ve just received this reply from the service desk…
Thank you for contacting the Service Desk
I have looked into your query regarding the learner who is restarting their apprenticeship in the current academic year. I can confirm that if the learner has been on a break in learning their planned end date when they return should still include the EPA period.
The off the Job field is mandatory for restarted learners and the value recorded should be for the restarted duration only and not recorded retrospectively.
In addition to the question above, do I need to include the Subcontractor code for the restarted component aim (3) if the subcontractor have already delivered their part of the aim prior to them going on a break?
I’m replying to this post to keep in the loop. I’m currently returning a large group of apprentices that were all forced to go on a break due to Covid-19. So far I have saved all correspondence between ourselves, the employer and apprentices notifying of the break and the return and I have reissued commitment statements and requested an updated apprenticeship agreement signed to confirm the new start, end dates and remaining OTJ hours. Hopefully I haven’t missed anything!
Hi, yes the ULN is correct on both
I’m having the same issue. I have put the \ after (local) and I’m now getting an error message saying
‘PDSAT could not connect to the FIS SQL Instance you have specified. Please check your FIS SQL instance is correctly named or try the default SQL instance’.
Thanks for your replies, this has been picked up during skill scan before agreeing a price. It’s how we work out that price that is causing us the problem.September 3, 2019 at 9:58 am in reply to: Degree Apprenticeships: Reducing cost for part modules #395576
Thanks for your reply.
We are a University preparing to deliver Architect Level 7 Degree Apprenticeship amongst others, therefore regulatory bodies are involved. Where about’s on the IfA website will I find the confirmation?

Just jumping on this thread as I have only ever been able to run the PDSAT sampler tool with a FIS file.
Please can you explain how I could do this with just an XML file as I have had issues installing FIS also
I also had this problem. It doesn’t seem to work with Windows 10. Even after our IT service team gave me full access rights and completed the ‘workaround’ it still wouldn’t work. I logged it with the service desk but I got nothing helpful back.
In the end our IT team had to install a virtual desktop on my machine that ran an older version of Windows and they installed FIS to that – becomes a ball ache though having to run applications between different desktops.
I have this exact same issue, contacted service desk and they couldn’t help me any further than giving me the workaround which as you correctly pointed out – doesn’t work either!
I’ve had to get our IT dept to install a virtual desktop with an older version of windows so the FIS install works. I now have to run FIS and PDSAT reports on a completely different desktop to the one I normally work from – not as swift a process as I would like!
Thanks for your feedback joannab. Just out of curiosity what do you mean by bulk update of records? We are fairly new to delivery so it is difficult for me to understand a scenario where you might need to update a number of ILR records at the same time.
I have recently started doing these records for the ILR. Having searched and read through this thread, I am still none the wiser. Can someone confirm that we don’t input PMR if they are a Levy employer that are paying solely via the digital account (i.e. they haven’t used up their levy money). TIA
Yes, SQLEXPRESS is there and running. It just doesn’t seem to want to start the installation.
I have also been experiencing trouble installing FIS. Exactly the same issue – I get past the ‘installing pre-requisite’ but nothing happens when I ‘start the installation’.
I have tried both chrome and internet explorer but no luck with either. I thought it was something to do with permissions, however, I have successfully installed other software (PDSAT). Any advice would be appreciated as I am about to do my first ever ILR return and I really need to run the rule violation reports.
Ok thanks for your help and putting my over cautious mind at rest!
Thanks, just thinking cautiously, in the meantime if they’re selected for audit and we have no evidence certs in place and nothing recorded that they are to complete them, would this not cause an issue?
